Darryl Farmer, 77, of McKee, Kentucky, passed away on May 9, 2024. Darryl's early years in
McKee shaped a life marked by a profound capacity for love that embraced his family and the
many passions that brought him joy throughout his life.
After graduating from Lee County High School, Darryl ventured north to Cincinnati, Ohio, where
he distinguished himself as a supervisor at International Paper Company, General Electric, and
Delphi. Beyond his professional achievements, Darryl was a celebrated manager and pitcher for
several championship softball teams in Lebanon, Ohio. His commitment to sports was marked
by his unwavering support for the Cincinnati Reds, and he was an avid collector of baseball
cards, owning Farmer's Baseball Cards and Memorabilia in West Chester, Ohio, during the
1990s.
Music was another one of Darryl's great loves, especially classic rock. He loved telling stories
about the concerts he attended, including the time he saw The Who in a barn when they were a
relatively unknown band. Later in life, he built an extensive collection of albums that could have
stocked a music store.
Darryl also enjoyed watching his favorite local band, Element3, hiking through the Appalachian
woods of Kentucky, shooting guns, golfing with his brothers, visits with his mother Esther,
swimming, spending time with his cats, and scouring local thrift stores.
He leaves behind his loving mother, Esther Farmer; daughters, Amy Edelman, Melissa Klein,
and Angie Taulbee; son, Brandon Farmer; sons-in-law, Brian Klein and Brandon Taulbee;
daughter-in-law, Sara Litwiller; brothers, Gerald and Mark Farmer and their families; and his
grandchildren, Bradlee, Brooklyn, Cameron, Evey, Kirsten, Lukas, and Mason, as well as his
extended family. He also leaves behind Beverly Ross, his high school sweetheart, whom he was
able to reconnect with later in life. His wife and love, Wanda Farmer, who passed away in 2019,
was his copilot in a lifetime full of adventures. He’s also preceded in death by his father, Pastor
Gentry Farmer.
Darryl lived life to its fullest. We will remember the laughter and passion that he brought to life
and hope to carry on his legacy for years to come. Donations in his name can be made to the
Warren County Animal Shelter.
