She was a devoted mother, cherished by her son, Daniel Ray Stephens, and daughter, Joyce Jean Pierce. Dorothy's warmth extended to her siblings, Jean Pierce, Ruth Jewell, Wanda Lou Connaster, Faye Parker, Ray Smith, and James Allen Smith, whom she valued dearly.

Though her heart was heavy with the absence of her husband, Elroy Stephens, and her late siblings—Wilma Atkins, Jane Sowers, Jean Connaster, and William Asby Schote—Dorothy's spirit remained vibrant and inspiring.
