Edna Louise Britton

Edna Louise Britton (nee Donathan), a longtime resident of Mason Ohio passed away February 10, 2025, in Hilliard Florida. Edna was born on September 1,1936 in Frenchburg, Kentucky to the late Lydia (Waters) and Herbert Donathan. Edna was proceeded in death by her husband Tom Britton Sr, her sisters Thelma Tutt and Donna Wenzel, her brother Cordell Donathan, and her stepson Raymond Britton.

 Edna is survived her son Thomas Britton Jr (Jacquie), Her stepsons Ernie Britton (Helen) and Ed Britton (Paula) and her sister Loretta Retherford. Edna is also survived by her grandchildren Lydianne Britton, Thomas Britton III, Tiffany McAbee, Mike Britton, Andrew Britton, Ryan Smits, and Eric Britton. Edna’s extended family includes 11 great grandchildren, and numerous loving nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

Edna loved life and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a strong supporter of the American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved flowers and especially loved her many pets that she called “doggies.” They were her babies, and she treated them as such.

Edna worked for 36 years as a bookkeeper. She worked at Interstate Folding Box in Middletown, Ohio. She was asked to move when the company was sold, and she became the bookkeeper for Bergstein Oil and Gas. She loved working for that family, and she retired from that company at the end of her 36-year career. She said she always felt like part of the family while working for Bergstein Oil and Gas and knew so many of the extended family.

 She loved the City of Mason very much and would take long walks with her dogs through Corwin Nixon Park. She supported Mason High school and the comets and attended many athletic functions including football, basketball, and baseball games. She was a member of the touchdown club and the two point club while her son was in high school.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Joe Barr Post 194 in Mason. She participated in many fund raisers for the American legion including the annual poppy drive. She was the sponsor for the American Legion Auxiliary Juniors for a time while a member at the post. She attended many American Legion Post 194, Warren County, 4 th district, State, and National functions with her husband.

Edna loved going to church with her late husband, her sister Loretta, and her late husband Dallas. She was a member of Crosspointe Church in Middletown for many years. She was active in the quilting class at Crosspointe and loved to quilt and spend time with the other ladies in the quilting class.

Edna touched many lives in her 88 years on this earth and she will be missed by family and friends. No longer in pain and walking with the Lord.
