Elizabeth (Betty) J. Schmitz
Elizabeth (Betty) Schmitz died October 7, 2022 at Ohio Living Mount Pleasant, in Monroe, Ohio at 94 years of age.
She was born May 23, 1928 in Cincinnati to George and Mae Biehl. Before graduating from Norwood High School, in the class of 1946. She and her father were Cincinnati’s Mixed Doubles Ping-Pong Champions.
Betty was charismatic, vivacious, adventurous, and fun! While raising six children (5 boys, 1 girl) ; always was hands on with all their many activities, she still found time to be on the City of Mason Life Squad, became a cosmetologist and a master seamstress working at Gilberts.
She also played piano, organ, and marimba.
Activities she enjoyed well into her 80’s and beyond are bowling, golf, clogging, square dancing, boating, and making, crafts of all sorts, and many more. She was always full of joy and the life of the party!
However, the love of her life was her family - first and foremost, and always her top priority. She was courageous, loving, and joyfully gracious until her last breath. She is survived by her children: Don Schmitz (Emmy) of West Chester, Ohio, Barbara Owen (Merrell) of Kokomo, Indiana, Robert Schmitz (Donna) of Houston, Texas, Bryan (Kathy) Schmitz of Fairfield, Ohio, Jeff Schmitz of West Chester, Ohio, and Ken Schmitz (Debbie) of West, Chester, Ohio. Betty is also survived by 10 grand children, 21 great-grandchildren, 1-great-great grandchild, and 3 step grandchildren, 1 step great-grandchild, all who were responsible for the joyous smile on her face.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents George and Mae Biehl, beloved husband William (Lefty) Schmitz, and her sister, Viola Wigbels.
