SCOTT, Florence Amy (nee Ray). Age 77, of West Chester, Ohio, died July 7, 2014, finally succumbing to cancer after 28 years as a cancer survivor. She was born in Columbus to Hugh W. Ray, Sr. and Helen C. Ray. She is preceded in death by her husband, Davie L. Scott, and her brother, Hugh W. (Bobbe) Ray, Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Amy (Jason) Metcalfe and Rhonda (John) Lynch. Florence was devoted to her seven grandchildren: Yuka and Riki, and Catherine, William, Margaret, Michael, and Theodore. Final arrangements will be made by Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home, 8791 Cincinnati Dayton Rd., West Chester, OH 45069. Florence will be laid to rest alongside her husband at the West Chester Cemetery at, 6425 West Chester Road. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks for the care and friendship Florence found at Emeritus at Long Cove Pointe in Mason, Ohio; and for the loving care she received from the staff at Crossroads Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pelotonia bike race to support cancer research at the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (donations to virtual rider ID: AMO248 at www.pelotonia.org/florencescott ).
