Glenna Mockbee

Glenna Mockbee (nee Combs) – Born February 2, 1946, to the late Milton and Mildred Combs, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and the comfort of her friends within the Pet Therapy Community, on March 12, 2023.

Loving wife of the late Kenneth Mockbee (2018), beloved mother of David (Traci) Mockbee, Pamela (John) Franz, and Michelle (Don) Grau, cherished grandmother of Doug, McKenzie, Zach. After graduating from Withrow High School, Glenna attended the University of Cincinnati.  She taught swimming classes for Countryside YMCA and the Mason Recreation Center for many years.  Her love and care for the wellness of others, continued throughout her life.  Glenna founded Therapy Pets of Greater Cincinnati in the mid 1990’s, and her journey brought her many recognitions, but most importantly, it brought comfort to many people.  Amongst those people, were veterans, students, and many other institutions, as Glenna was one of the first to establish Therapy Dog visits to the Veterans Hospital, hospice facilities, nursing homes, and schools. Glenna received the Henry Johnson Sr. Memorial Volunteer award from the Senate of the State of Ohio for her work with Shriners hospital for children, was Recognized by the Cincinnati Bengals and P&G for her volunteer work as well as the American Kennel Clubs Humane Fund for Canine Excellence.  She also received Volunteering accolades from: Shriners, Children’s and Christ hospitals. 

The family of Glenna will be receiving friends for a visitation at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home – 400 Reading Rd., Mason, OH 45040 on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, with a funeral service to follow beginning at 11:00 AM.  A graveside service will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery – 171 S. Mason Montgomery Rd., Mason, OH 45040 immediately following the funeral service.
