Howard Bishop

Howard Bishop, 81, of Lebanon, Ohio, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 12, 2023.  He was born October 28, 1941, in South Lebanon, Ohio, to the late Lewis and Lucy Bishop. Howard was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Cammack Bishop, Father-In-Law English Cammack, Mother-In-Law Emma “Kate” Cammack, Sister Beatrice “Bea” Poynter, and Brother Earnest Bishop.   

Devoted and loving father to Kimberly “Kim” Bishop, Timothy “Tim” Bishop, and Melissa “Missy” (Alexis “Alex”) Eddy, grandfather to Lauren (Graham) Gilmer, Alexis “Lexi” (Shelby) Eddy, Alexander “Alex” Moushey, Lukas Eddy, Benjamin “Ben” Moushey, and Samuel “Sam” Moushey, great-grandfather to Theodore “Teddy” Gilmer and Reese Gilmer, fiancé to Sheila Ertel Bowman and her children Greg (Cathy) Bowman, Michael “Mike” (Jennifer “Jenny”) Bowman, and Kevin (Kristin) Bowman, brother to James “Jim” (Chris) Bishop, Doris Cupp, and Wilma Sue Brown, Brother-In-Law to Mike (Pamela “Pam”) Cammack and Jerry (Patricia “Patty”) Cammack, and uncle to many adored nieces and nephews.

Howard had a beautiful smile that could fill a room.  He was a star athlete and a 1959 graduate of Kings Mills High School.  In his early years, his hobbies included bowling and fishing.  He dedicated his entire life to caring for others. Before retiring from Mason City Schools, Howard was known for providing exceptional care of the buildings and grounds, yet more importantly for treating teachers and administration as family and the students as grandchildren.  Howard thoroughly enjoyed dining and shopping with Kim and playing cards with Tim weekly.  He spent quite a bit of time with Missy and Alex at Restoration Acres in Hillsboro, Ohio, where Person To Person Ministries is located. He absolutely adored visiting with his grandkids and great-grandkids as well.  Each brought so much joy to his heart.  A few of the highlights of Howard’s weekly/monthly life were meals with family and friends in which he reminisced and laughed. If anyone could be known as the “most caring and generous person,” it would be Howard Bishop.  He will be forever cherished.

The family of Howard will be receiving friends for a visitation at Christ’s Church located at 5165 Western Row Road, Mason, Ohio 45040 on Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.  A celebration of life will immediately follow.  Private interment will be on Monday, June 26, 2023, at Deerfield Cemetery in South Lebanon, Ohio.
