James Sparks

James "Levi" Sparks, age 76, of Mason, OH, departed this life on Tuesday, September 29th, 2020, surrounded by his son and grandson at Blue Ash Hospice.  James was born in Paintsville, KY, on January 11, 1944 to the late Ira and Melissa Greene Sparks. James is a retired heavy equipment operator for Sunesis Construction Company. He is survived by two sons, Scott Sparks and Michael Sparks of Mason, OH; three brothers, Dewey Sparks of Silver Grove, KY, Ralph (Roberta) Sparks of Lebanon, OH, and Bill (Debbie) Sparks of California KY; four sisters, Gladys Rice of Chicago, IL, Hazel Rice of Paintsville, KY,  Gene (George) Grainger of Peach Grove, KY, Ruth (Ben) Shelton of Albany, KY; three grandchildren,  Megan Elizabeth Sparks, Michael Dale Levi Sparks, Zach Tibbs. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hall Sparks; three brothers, Leslie, Carl, and Earl Sparks; and two sisters, Dorothy Jones and Francis Shelton. The family of Levi will be receiving friends for a visitation at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home (400 Reading Rd., Mason, OH 45040) on Friday, October 2, 2020, from 12 Noon until 1:30 PM.  Funeral service will begin at 1:30 PM.   Burial at Rose Hill Cemetery (171 Mason Montgomery Rd., Mason, OH 45040) will take place immediately following.
