Jean Weisman

August 25, 1926 — April 29, 2016


Jean Finley Weisman, 89, of Mason, Ohio, passed away on April 29, 2016, at Alois Alzheimer Center in Cincinnati. She was born on August 25, 1926, in Malta, Ohio, to Raymond and Jean (née Naylor) Finley. She was granddaughter of Ohio author James Ball Naylor.

She married Harold W. Weisman on September 1, 1947, after he returned from service in the Army Air Corps.

Jean attended Malta & McConnelsville High School. She was graduated from the Christ Hospital School of Nursing in Cincinnati in 1947 as a member of the Nurse Cadet Corps. She worked many years at the Mason Medical Center, as well as in nursing homes. She was a Girl Scout leader and trainer for over 25 years. Jean served the Mason United Methodist Church by teaching adult classes, volunteering for Vacation Bible School, and working on committees.

She was a devoted mother of Gary (Donna Jean) Weisman, Lyn (Paul) Weisman Mayewski, Douglas (Theresa) Weisman, Niccoli (Doug) Reams and Meg (David) Weisman Barry; and is also survived by ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Burial service is private. Memorial service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held at Mason United Methodist Church on May 5, 2016 beginning at 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Church Mission Program. Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home is serving the family.
