John Fahrnbach

John Fahrnbach (Mason, Ohio), born August 11, 1940 to the late John (Margie) Fahrnbach Sr., loving husband of the late Janet Fahrnbach, passed away unexpectedly on August 8, 2023. John is survived by his sister Cherie Thomas, brother Gary Fahrnbach and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Barena.

John was loved and known by many for his sweet, caring smile with a touch of stubbornness. He always had a good story to tell about family, friends, neighbors, high school, automobiles, a good find at a garage sale or resale shop, beloved pets, fishing and the size of his catch, the lodge, the garden, the cabin, his boats and his barber shop.

John retired from 51 years barbering in 2013 after promising to retire on multiple occasions. Many of his customers came back year after year, many for over 20 years. The day of his retirement the shop filled with customers wishing him well while a belly dancer provided a proper send send off. He recently discovered that haircuts start at $30, a steep increase from his prices that ranged from $1.25 (1965) to $10. Needless to say, he preferred the scruff and curls before paying over $1 on senior day. And, if you know John, that's just one example of his stubbornness and eagle eye on his expenses.

John was passionate about serving the community and he sponsored several baseball teams throughout the years. He was an active, dedicated member of Sharonville-Calvary Lodge #204, F. & A.M. for 37 years. And he was always ready to eat a good meal from Mason Grill or Lebanon Country Kitchen where the staff has known him by name for many, many, years.

A visitation, Masonic Lodge ceremony and funeral service were held Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home (400 Reading Rd., Mason, OH 45040).
