Joyce Edwards

Joyce Edwards, born November 25, 1937, passed away January 9, 2017.  Survived by beloved husband of 58 years, Luther Edwards, dear daughter Sharon (Ted) Edwards Smith, cherished grandchildren Stephanie (Jeremy) Lucas, Adam (Marissa) Smith, and Jessica (Michael) Germany, and loving great-grandchildren Madison, Ethan, Micah, Carter, Ezra Lucas, Harper Germany, and dear sister Sue Gibson. Preceded in death by parents Willie and Julia Cantrell, and 8 brothers and  6 sisters.  Joyce grew up in Salyersville, Kentucky with her parents and siblings where she learned to garden and canning.  She attended Lee Jr. College at the young age of 16, later going on to receive her Bachelor's degree from Miami University.  Joyce went back to college in her  50's to complete her master's degree at Morehead State.   She retired from McGoffin County School District after contributing to the education field for 25 years. Joyce was a great cook and loved spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren.  The family of Joyce will be receiving friends for a visitation at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home-Mason (400 Reading Road, Mason, OH 45040) on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 10:00AM - 11:00 AM with a funeral ceremony to follow beginning at 11:00 Am.
