Leslie Racer

d. August 28, 2019

Leslie Ann Racer left an empty place in our hearts on August 28, 2019. She was 47. Leslie was an incomparable mother, partner, sister and daughter. Leslie was an artistic and creative force. She had an ability to see the beauty in everything. Her smile was infectious and she made anyone she interacted with feel important. She had a warm, passionate and giving heart and was loved by all who knew her.

Leslie had an unending love for the mountains. She was born in Colorado and spent most of her life growing up in Utah. She felt peace within the shadows of the Rockies and Wasatch and longed to return to them.

Leslie spent her adolescence in foster care and was a fierce advocate for anyone who felt rejected, lost or alone. She volunteered for several organizations in the Cincinnati area that supported youth in foster care with their transition to adulthood. She often provided clothes, a meal, guidance or sometimes just a hand to hold, or shoulder to lean on.

A highly successful insurance agent in her early adult life, Leslie held an AA in Business, and later earned a BFA in Interior Design from the Art Institute of Ohio. She owned her own business, Interior Design by Leslie, and thrived when she was able to help someone transition a space or create something beautiful and functional.

She is survived by her longtime partner and best friend of 23 years, Sharon Walker, and their beautiful daughter, Ashley Blevins. Being a mother was what Leslie was most proud of. Nothing provided her more joy and happiness.

She is also survived by her mothers, Anne Quinn and Audrey Anderson and sisters Mandy Racer and Ariane Racer, and nephew Pacian Garrett. Leslie was pre-deceased by her father, Roger Racer, and nephew, Jeremy Garrett.

A memorial for Leslie will be held in the weeks to come. Leslie’s family plans to take her home to the mountains that she loved and where she felt most at peace. In lieu of flowers or cards, her family asks that you make donations to the Trevor Project @ give.thetrevorproject.org.
