Lewis Poggiali, born September 26, 1929 in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Vergil and Lillian (nee Senich) Poggiali, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on February 14, 2023. Proud and loving husband of Dorothy Poggiali since October 24, 1953, (nee Monak), beloved father of Dean (Janet) Poggiali, Peter (the late Robin) Poggiali, and Tony (Suzanne) Poggiali, cherished grandfather of Shoni (Shawn Bender) Poggiali, Andrea (Juan) Serna, Alexis Poggiali, Heather Poggiali, the late Ryan Poggiali, beloved great-grandfather of Samantha, Harley, Ryleigh, Lilly, Alaina, Enrique, Emilio, Juan, Gracie, Faith, Nathaniel, great-grandfather of Aria, brother of the late Richard (the late Marilyn) Poggiali, brother in law of Ruth (the late Harry) Flewelling, the late Janice (the late Phil) Timko, and loving uncle of many nieces, nephews, and adored cousin by numerous cousins. Lewis graduated from Sandusky High School and went on to become a revered and well-respected package designer. This is a skill he carried on throughout his life well after retirement and obtained many US Patents. He had a keen eye for detail that could be seen in his carpentry work as well. Lewis also loved being outdoors, trapping, fishing, and gardening. His kindness, humor, love, and talent will be missed deeply by many.
The family of Lewis will be receiving friends for a visitation and celebration of Lewis’s life at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home – 400 Reading Rd., Mason, Ohio, 45040 on Friday, February 17, 2023 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. A burial and graveside service will take place at Catawba Island Township Cemetery 4822 E. Cemetery Rd, Port Clinton, OH 43452, on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:30 AM.
