Michael “Mike” Andrew “Boss” Davis “Blue Eyes”…born August 24, 1953

After a long and courageous battle, Mike lost his fight with ALS, passing quietly in his sleep on 10/07/15 with his family by his side. That day, we lost one of the hardest working intelligent men in the concrete construction business, a true Champion in his industry. Mike worked for Baker Concrete for 33 years until this ugly disease forced his retirement in February of 2015. He was a mentor, a teacher, and friend to many. Mike was a great provider to his family and a wealth of knowledge to all who knew him. Mike loved to spend time with his wife and son, as well as woodwork, tinker around the house, and wash and wax “Big Red” (His truck). He always had a project in the works. He also loved having a beer and a laugh with friends and family, chicken wings, and country music. The mold was truly demolished when they forged this one-of a kind spirit. Ornery, humorous, and clever…If you had the fortune of being a part of Mike’s life, you knew that you had been forever changed in a positive way and that a little part of him will carry on in all of us forever.

Mike was the loving husband and partner of 37 years of Diane Davis (Nee; Middleton), and the dear father of Shane Davis (Kristal). He was brother of Jamie Burch (Steve) and Brother-in Law of Larry Paul Upchurch. Mike also leaves behind Mother and Father-in-law, Sis and Don Middleton, Brother-in Law, Dan Middleton and Step-Father, George Buchanan along with several nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Davis Buchanan & James Davis, and sisters, Pam Davis & Carol Upchurch (ALS-‘14).

A Private Graveside Funeral Service will be held for Mike at Rose Hill Cemetery, 171 Mason Montgomery Road Mason, OH 45040, on Saturday, October 17. The service will begin promptly at 12:00pm, please arrive no later than 11:15am. Out of respect for the Family, this is by Invite only due to limited space. There will also be a Celebration of Life service to take place directly following the Graveside Service, held at Shorten & Ryan Funeral Home, 400 Reading Rd, Mason, OH 45040. This will be a true celebration in Mike Davis fashion with food and spirit. Please stop by and pay your respects and share your (surely to be lively) tales of this great man with family and friends.
