Michael "Todd" Montgomery

Michael Todd Montgomery, 48, of Mason, Ohio died peacefully Wednesday, April, 19, 2017 after a seven year battle with cancer.

He was born March 12, 1969, in Madison, Indiana to Michael J. and Nancy C. Montgomery.

After residing in Hanover, Indiana and Rising Sun, Indiana, the family moved to Mason, Ohio.

He graduated from Mason High School in 1987.  He is a graduate of Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky.  He was inducted into the Georgetown College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005. His passion and work revolved around coaching basketball and baseball.

After graduating college, Todd was fortunate enough to assist and learn from outstanding high school coaches, beginning with his dad Mike Montgomery, and continuing with Larry  Redwine of the Midland Organization and Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy, Howard Brownstein , Tim Dunn of Cincinnati Country Day, Mike Maundrell of Moeller High School, Sean VanWinkle of Hamilton High School, and Ken Voshell of Milford.  At the college level, he was the assistant to the head basketball coach Happy Osborne and assisted the baseball coach.

During the summer months, he coached in the Midland Organization.  Presently, he is employed with the DNA Sports Center Baseball Academy in Milford.  Todd enjoyed watching all levels of basketball and was an avid UK fan.  Todd was a member at First Baptist Church of Mason and a member of the PhiDel fraternity at Georgetown College. He enjoyed reading, especially about history and visiting historic places like Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and his mom’s favorite place, Plymouth, Massachusetts.

He is survived by his parents Mike and Nancy Montgomery, uncle Don Montgomery of Seymour, Indiana, aunts and uncles Barbara and Rodney Titler, and Dona and Daniel Montgomery of Chillicothe, Ohio and several cousins.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a cousin Doug Titler.  His parents would like to thank all the many friends and family who visited and supported Todd during his illness.   Visitation will be at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home – Mason (400 Reading Road, Mason, OH 45040) on Sunday, April 23, 2017, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.  On April 24th, 2017 at 11:00 AM, a funeral service will be held at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home – Mason.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery-Mason.  Todd was such a happy person, in lieu of flowers, Todd would want you to spend your money on something you would enjoy.  Have fun!!
