Sylvia Lois (nee Monahan) Schenkel, 90, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on March 4, 2025. Preceded in death by her loving husband, John E. Jr. (Jack), her parents, Denver J. and Rose L. Monahan, and her brother, Stewart Monahan. Loving and devoted mother of Cindy (Bill) Schenkel Nester, Cathy, (Tim) Brennan and Chris (Jody) Schenkel. Devoted grandmother of Nicole, Natalie, Matthew, Molly, Morgan, Dylan, Jessie, Dustin and Evan and 5 great grandchildren. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Marilyn Good friend and  Donna Schenkel and many nieces and nephews. Sylvia devoted her life to her husband of 62 years, her children and grandchildren. Born on May 24, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Sylvia graduated from Hughes High School where she met her loving husband, Jack. Sylvia retired from Morton where she worked for over 20 years in Human Resources and Accounts Payable. Upon retiring, Sylvia joined Jack as a volunteer at Bethesda North Hospital for the next 20 years. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s special events. She enjoyed reading, knitting and loved all animals. She was a life-long Cincinnati Reds fan. Visitation will be held at the Stone Worship Center, The Christian Village at Mason, 411 Western Row Road, Mason Ohio, Saturday, March 8 between 10:00 and 11:00 am. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am. Procession to Rose Hill Cemetery for a gravesite service on Saturday, March 8 immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Children’s Home of Cincinnati. Condolences may be shared with the family through shortenandryanfh@gmail.com
