Tommy Kidd, of Deer Park, was born to Bessie Jewell and Porter Phillip Kidd in Stanford, Kentucky on December 15, 1946. Tom passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022. He is preceded in death and reunited with his beloved wife Leora Joy Kidd, daughter Cami Kay Strong, his loving parents, and big brothers Eddie and James. Tom is survived by his daughter Krista (Howard) Lorenz, six beloved grandchildren, Leah, Porter, Josephine, Julia, Maryn, and Omarih, as well as, his many friends, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Tom proudly served alongside his brother, Jimmy, in the U.S. Navy and Naval Reserves during the Vietnam War as a torpedoman. He had an amazing work ethic and retired from the Kroger company. Tom spent countless days at the ballfields serving young people in his community as a soccer and girls softball coach. His athletes recall his fun and positive demeanor and his ability to bring out the best in each of them. He was a dedicated and attentive father who never missed a game or performance, nor an opportunity to help other people. His grandchildren loved his playfulness. He was a natural encourager and made the people near him feel loved and accepted. He enjoyed telling a great joke, golf, card games, watching sports, making peanut butter fudge, having a few beers with friends, and most importantly, supporting the Xavier Musketeers! He was one of the great ones and memories of his presence and smile are cherished by all who loved him.
The family of Tommy will be receiving friends for a visitation at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home (400 Reading Road., Mason, OH 45040) on Saturday, January 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM. A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM before a graveside service with military honors at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. We encourage those who attend to please wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Tommy, the loyal Xavier Musketeer fan, to the Community Engaged Fellowship program or a Xavier program of one's choice.
