Virginia (Ginnie) Sowders (nee Schearing) of Mason passed away gently in her home surrounded by family on April 5th. She was 96. Ginnie is the matriarch of 5 living generations. She is survived by her children Judy Baudendistel, Dauna Easley and Daryl Sowders, her loving grandchildren Todd Baudendistel, Missi Shulte, Jodi Lovejoy, and Shelby (Sowders) Banks, her great-grandchildren Justin, Meghan and Lauren Baudendistel, Austin O’Harold, Taylor, Kiley, Kaci and Max Lovejoy, and Abby Banks, as well as her great, great-grandchildren Mia, Zayden, Raelynn and Brinley. She is also survived by cherished nephews Jerry Doekel and Gary Schearing. In an era in which women didn’t typically work, Ginnie worked for over 30 years for General Electric. She loved every member of her family ferociously including their spouses and they loved her back. Ginnie was generous, wise, funny, feisty, kind and caring. Even at age 96 she lived independently in her home with the part-time help and full-time friendship of her caregiver, Pam Docter. She loved her home, her neighbors, golden vanilla ice cream and the Cincinnati Reds. Because of the quarantine, there can be no visitation, but a celebration of her life will be planned near the time of her birthday on September 28th. In lieu of flowers consider a donation to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for pediatric cancer in honor of Ginnie Sowders and in memory of her late granddaughter, Kelsey Easley. (form below).
