Zelona Young

It is with great sadness that the family of Zelona “Frankie” Frances Young announce her passing on Monday September 7, 2020 at the age of 91.

Frankie carried many talents, she was an extremely accomplished seamstress, a master at alterations, queen of making quilts and stockings, and a delicious baker where she was known for her pies, cakes and sugar belles. She enjoyed spending time with family, bible study, baking and going to church. She also loved her roosters and cardinals or “red birds” as she called them.

Zelona will be lovingly remembered by her children, Richard (Sharon) Gray, Jerry (Sharon) Gray, Dennis Gray, Kenneth (Stacy) Bauer, Melissa Schmittou, and Paul Bauer. Cherished grandmother of Tonya, Angie, Annette, Braden, Denise, Chrissy, Dennis Jr, Gabrielle, Amanda, Matthew, Nathan, Ashley and Dustin; also survived by 25 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and numerous family members and friends.

Zelona was predeceased by her parents, William and LulaBelle Hubbard; husband, Robert Young; siblings, Richard, Oscar, Helen, George, Melzena, Frieda, Betty, Junior, Wilma; son, John Bauer and daughter-in-law, Margaret Gray.

The family of Zelona will be receiving family and friends for a visitation at Shorten and Ryan Funeral Home (400 Reading Rd., Mason, OH 45040) on Monday, September 14, 2020 from 10:00am – 12 Noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in honor of Zelona to Jacob’s Well Foundation and sent to 4051 U.S 35 East, West Alexandria, OH 45381 (www.jacobswellfellowship.org).
